Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival

Themed on Whisky, Food, Music and the Heritage & Culture of Speyside, the 2011 Festival will offer a wide array of quality events.

Knockomie Hotel Events:

This is a new event for 2011 and is for those lovers of Food and Whisky. This tour starts in Dufftown with a pickup point in Aberlour.

It's an ideal opportunity to visit a farm in the village of Garmouth close to where the River Spey meets the North Sea and where barley and beef are produced. After a tour of the farm you will be driven to Pluscarden Abbey to see how the Benedictine Monks produce Spirit of Pluscarden before heading to the Glen Moray Distillery in Elgin. From there on to the award winning Knockomie Hotel for lunch with dishes created using the abundance of Speyside's Larder. After lunch a visit to one of Speysides smallest family owned distillery, where you will see whisky craftmanship at it's best.

Saturday 30th April 2011 - Benromach Distillery, Forres

Step inside Speyside’s smallest and most exclusive working distillery for a unique and undoubtedly memorable experience as you enrol as a Benromach Warehouseman. Let Distillery Manager, Keith Cruickshank and Stillman, Mike Ross guide you round the distillery, bringing the story to life with an opportunity to taste new make spirit right through the distillation process.

Join Keith and Mike in the filling store to take the spirit charge, reduce the spirit and prepare casks, before filling the casks and having the opportunity to stow the casks in the traditional dunnage-style warehouse, using traditional practises that have been handed down from generation to generation.

To commemorate your visit, exclusively hand fill your own unique bottle of Benromach Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky. This truly unique and hands-on experience is one not to be missed!

Benromach Forres Theme Day Sunday 1st May 2011

Surrounded by sweeping coastline to the north, and the majestic Grampian Mountains to the south, the pretty market town of Forres will play host to a collection of some of the finest veteran, vintage and classic vehicles from throughout Scotland.

With music, entertainment and various side stalls, this annual celebration of motoring nostalgia is a fantastic day out for all the family.
